I almost was a slug on the chair today, but for some reason around 12:30 I got up and decided to take Ginger for a walk. Thank goodness!
I took her to Little Mountain Park to run around in the off-leash area. It was a beautiful, sunny but windy day. Ginger loved running around, meeting all the other dogs in the fields and she even came across two other Chocolate Labs. It was funny watching the three of them running around--I had trouble picking Ginger out of the trio. She, of course, is not purebred, but you do have to look close to see the difference--she has "ginger" color on the top of her ears and in her tail, shanks, and feet, other than that the color is the same and her ears are a little shorter and the leather thicker than purebreds, but her body shape and running style looks exactly the same.
I stopped by work as I had to leave early yesterday and did not get all of my work done but when I got on the computer found out that they had done some changing to the drives and all of the work saved on my Admin drive was moved to a drive I currently don't have access to--sigh! I sent off a frustrated e-mail to a couple of people and hopefully the situation will be fixed when I'm back next week. I did, however, see an e-mail from my committee champion (see yesterday's post) and he thought my ideas were great and gave me the go ahead. Yay! Have some calls to make next week and will hopefully get something going soon with that.
I also spent time this afternoon doing the "scratch" coat on my front lawn--It sure looks great after that. You can see the green trying to come through. I can see some of my perennials coming up already which I just love to see. I still have quite a bit of garden clean up to do but it's always worth it when my gardens are in bloom! I also did some much needed composting. I had a freezer full of veggy cuttings and leftovers fom the winter so was able to get some dried grass on those and fill one and a half composters. I should be able to get the rest of the frozen veggies to the composter this week after doing some more yardworkd and hopefully before fall is here I'll have some really nice compost for my gardens.
I also got the top of my desk cleaned off in my home office and can now see what color my desk is. My craft table, which is also in my home office, is another thing but I'll get to that soon.
I just want to lament a bit about some trouble I seem to be having this last week. It seems that there are some people I know that just don't "get" me. In person and by e-mail. On two different occasions this week I had responses from people that just did not corelate with what I had said/written. I'm guessing that because I'm the common denomenator that it's probably something that I need to look at, but it's just so frustrating! I really pride myself on being able to communicate well and have done a lot of soul searching and work to try to show people who I really am--to show that "what you see is what you get" and that I'm a "straight shooter" and there is no need to read between the lines. Like I said, I guess I just need to work on that some more.
I also decided today that I may need to add a "private" blog area to this blog because I think there are going to be times that I'm going to have to write some things that I don't want others to be able to see--just my own private thoughts and things to work out. I'm enjoying writing in a "journal" this way and feel it's being very cathartic for me and that I'm making progress toward my goals.
One more thing for today. After my ex and I broke up, one of my biggest goals/dreams was to buy a house of my own. Jim and I owned a house that I just loved while we were in Cape Breton and one of the things that really broke my heart about leaving Cape Breton/the east coast was leaving my house--the first house I was an owner of.
I decided that I was going to own a home within five years--that was in 1996. I talked about it, wrote about it, thought about it and even three years later, I was really no further ahead but still said "within 5 years of Jim and I splitting up, I'm going to own a home". Well, I did buy my house in March of 2001--about six months before the 5 year "deadline".
I've decided that I want to write goals like that again, set my intentions out there. So...here are a couple of intentions that I want to send to the Universe.
1. Within five years of today (April 25, 2009), I will own a detached house with a good, strong foundation/walls, etc. It will have a large, safe, and private fenced back yard. The house will only need paint in order for me to decorate it in my authentic style. it will have a fully finished basement rec/family room, a large kitchen with lots of counter space, lots of light from the energy efficient windows. There will be two full bathrooms. My bathroom will have large soaker tub and be bright and spacious. A large master bedroom, an office, a craft room, and a guest room. My animals and anyone visiting will feel at home and comfortable there. It will be close to everything I hold dear--family, friends, church, work, etc.
2. Within 2 years I will have released at least 100 (one hundred) pounds from my body. I will be energetic, and athletic. I will feel confident and feel comfortable in my skin. I will let myself shine during the whole journey to let myself be who I really am. I will find people to share this journey with and to support me by going for walks (or exercising in any way) with me, talking to me when I need, and just loving me through the process. I will rejoice every pound released but will not lament any times of stagnation, as I know that only shows that I'm ready for the next level--to "take it up a notch".
Those are two really big ones. There are some more but that's a good start!
